Jesus is King. Everything Will Be OK.

There are truths worth repeating to ourselves, particularly when life is difficult or feels like it’s imploding upon us. Such truths can lift our heads when we’re drowning, fill our hearts with hope when things look hopeless, and stir up joy in our lives in times of despair.

Perhaps more than any other truth, Jesus as the king of creation, the one for whom and through whom all things were made, the one who is for his people and never leaves them or forsakes them, means, ultimately, that everything will be ok. Take heart. There’s hope for today and tomorrow.

Lots of things produce discouragement in my heart these days. I’m guessing I’m not alone in that regard. But one thing remains absolutely true: Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

Jesus is patient. He bears with us when we fall short. He forgives all our shortcomings. His heart moves toward us in our hour of need.

Jesus is kind. He doesn’t lose his temper like a stressed-out parent. He isn’t mad at us. He never turns his face away from his friends.

Jesus is present. His Spirit dwells in us. His Spirit speaks to us with a gentle whisper. Where two or more gather in Jesus’ name, he is with them.

Jesus is king. He’s ruling and reigning right now. Forever. He’s seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding on our behalf.

Yes, there is hope. Jesus is king. And that means everything will be ok.

I don’t know what your life currently looks like. I don’t know what troubles have blown your way. But I do know this: if you belong to Jesus, if you’ve surrendered your life to him, if you’ve declared with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believed in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you’ll be saved. It’s a promise.

When life throws grenades at you, when sickness and death and hell and decay come calling, when all your aspirations are ruined by the unexpected, you have an advocate that sticks closer than a brother. Tell yourself the truth. Jesus is king. Everything will be ok.

    Thanks. I needed that. Again. World conflicts, national politics and family upsets cause me to forget the sovereignty of God. I know to “be anxious about nothing and pray about everything.” But there I go on my own again, worrying, fretting and losing joy.

      It’s super easy to get pulled down by that stuff. I’m glad to hear the reminder blessed you.

    We are so blessed by that truth. Thanks for the reminder!

    This morning I heard an old hymn called “God Is Still On the Throne” by Kittie L. Suffield. Here is the chorus and second verse:

    Chorus:

    God is still on the throne,
    And He will remember His own;
    Though trials may press us and burdens distress us,
    He never will leave us alone;
    God is still on the throne,
    He never forsaketh His own;
    His promise is true, He will not forget you,
    God is still on the throne.

    Verse 2:

    Burdened soul, is your heart growing weary
    With the toil and the heat of the day?
    Does it seem that your path is more thorny
    As you journey along on life’s way?
    Go away and in secret before Him
    Tell your grief to the Savior alone;
    He will lighten your care, for He still answers prayer;
    God is still on the throne.
